OBJECT OF DESPAIR...

OBJECT OF DESPAIR

Emma is a lawyer
And so is Aisha too
Colleagues going into court
At circa half past two

Its 1 O'Clock right now
Aisha prays before the trial
They grab a bite and chat about this and that
Conversing with a smile

Aisha is in full hijab
With a loose all over suit
Emma's in her business wear
With accessories taboot

Emma's really quite bemused
At Aisha's godly ways
She looks Aisha in the eyes
And very firmly says

You're a smart girl Aisha
Why do you wear that across your hair?
Subjugated by "man"-kind
An object of despair

Take it off my sister
Let your banner be unfurled
Don't blindly follow all around
DECLARE YOUR FREEDOM TO THE WORLD

Aisha is amazed
But not the least bit shy
She bravely puts her milkshake down
And gives Emma the reply

My dear sister Emma,
Why do you dress the way you do?
The skirt you're wearing round your waist,
Is it really you?

Now that we've sat down
I see you tug it across your thighs,
Do you feel ashamed?
Aware of prying eyes?

I see the way you're sitting,
Both legs joined at the knees,
Who forces you to sit like that?
Do you feel at ease?

I'll tell you who obliges you,
To dress the way you do,
Gucci, Klein, and St. Laurent
All have designs on you!

In the main, its men my friend,
Who dictate the whims of fashion,
Generating all the garb,
To incite the basest passion

"Sex Sells" there is no doubt
But who buys with such great haste,
The answer is likes like you,
Because they want to be embraced...

They want to be accepted,
On a level playing field
Sure, with brain and intellect
But with body parts revealed

Intelligence and reason
Are useful by and by
But if you want to make a mark
Stay appealing to the eye

You claim your skirt is office-like
A business dress of sorts
Would we not laugh at Mike?
If he turned up in shorts?

His could be the poshest of pants
Pinstripe from Saville Rowe
But walking round like that my friend
He'd really have to go

Why do you douse yourself in creams
To make your skin so milky?
Why do you rip off all your hair
To keep your body silky?

A simple shower's all you need
To stay respectable and clean
The time and money that you spend
Is really quite obscene

Why do you wake up at dawn,
To apply a firm foundation,
Topped with make up and the like,
In one chaotic combination?

And if you should have to leave the house
Devoid of this routine
Why do you feel insecure
That you should not be seen?

Be free my sister Emma
Escape from your deep mire
Don hijab today my friend
And all Islam's attire

Avoid all those sickly stares
Or whistles from afar
Walk down the street with dignity
Take pride in who you are

Strength lies in anonymity
Be a shadow in the crowd
Until you speak and interact
When your voice will carry loud

You're a smart girl Emma
Wear this across your hair
Don't be subjugated by "man"-kind
An object of despair

To use your very words my friend
Let your banner be unfurled
Don't blindly follow all around
DECLARE YOUR FREEDOM TO THE WORLD

Hearing Qur'an and Islamic talks while doing something else

By Mufti Shafiq Jakhura and Mufti M.D. Mangera

Q.I want to know whether I can hear the Qur'an or hear talks from islamic scholars while working on some software code or while playing games?

A.It is obviously disrespectful to hear the Qur'an being recited and not listen to it attentively. Hence, one should avoid playing a Qur'an audio while one is engaged in other activities.

Similarly one must also give due attention when listening to an Islamic lecture, though this does not have the same status as listening to the Holy Quran and as such one may listen to a talk whilst engaged in other activities. However, this is not preferable as it could lead to incorrect understandings and misquotations etc.

And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best.

Bad Thoughts in Prayer

By Mufti Shafiq Jakhura

Q. Whenever I go to the mosque and start my prayer, strange thoughts come to my mind. Whenever some holy verse is recited, I suddenly think of some foolish meanings. Please help me in this regard.

A.You should try your level best to concentrate in your salah and should not entertain such thoughts. Remember that the thoughts coming on their own is not objectionable. Bringing the thoughts in one's mind or entertaining them further once they come is what is objectionable. The following are some useful points that could assist in acquiring concentration in salah.

1. Be always deeply thankful and grateful to Allah Ta'ala for having blessed you with the ability to perform salah in congregation punctually.

2. After making wudu with the correct adaab reading the specific duas and without wasting water etc. proceed to the masjid with wudu with the firm belief that your sins have been washed away by the wudu and in the steps you take when proceeding to the masjid. Wear good clean clothes that the pious wear. Apply attar (perfume).  Aim to get the entire reward of your salah.

3. Avoid all types of worldly and unnecessary talks when proceeding to the masjid.

4. Gracefully come to the masjid at least a few minutes before the salah can commence.

5. After reciting the masnoon dua of entering the masjid and the two rak'ahs on entry etc, meditate about death, sincerely engage in istighfar and repentance and consider the possibility that this may be your last salah. Imagine that this is your last salah. Perhaps you will not have a chance to offer another salah. Reply to adhan and read the prescribed dua after the adhan. If there is any sunnats to be performed perform them. Between the adhan and iqamah make dua.

6.  Contemplate and think of the ayat verses and adhkar that you are reciting or listening to during the prayer. Isn't is disheartening that someone may perform salah for decades, day after day, and still not know what they are saying?

At the time of changing postures, feel that your entire body is performing that posture for Allah Ta'ala. Try and maintain the thought that Allah Ta'ala is watching.

7. Make dua regularly that Allah Ta'ala grant us all the true spirit and acceptance of salah.

8. Avoid all doubtful things, people and places especially the media (TV, magazines, newspapers, questionable sites on the Internet etc.)

9. For a few minutes in the day read up the stories of the pious as well as the books of Fadail (Virtue).

May Allah Ta'ala grant us all the true spirit and acceptance of salah, and ultimately His pleasure.

Touching the Feet of Elders as Mark of Respect

By Mufti Muhammad Kadwa

CHECKED AND APPROVED: Mufti Ebrahim Desai

Q.) It is widely practiced in my home country to pay regards to the superiors (parents, teachers, peers etc.) by touching their legs and return that touch to one's head or chest (popularly known as 'Qadam-Bosi'). Is it allowed in Sharia? Please answer. [Mohammad Motalib]

A.) Qadam-Bosi or bowing down to seniors and touching their feet is a custom of the Indian Hindus. Such an action, irrespective of the intention of the person, is totally prohibited.

Bowing in reverence of any person is strictly prohibited in the Ahaadith of Rasulullah . Even the Sahaba, Radi-Allahu anhum, who were downright enthusiasts of Rasulullah  didn't bow before Rasulullah in spite of the ardent desire to do so.

Taqdeer

By Mufti Shafiq Jakhura

Q.My question is regarding taqdeer (fate): if Allah has written the taqdeer for every individual, then why does He punish accordingly, since it is He that has prescribed this . For example the u ncle of the Prophet Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, (Abu Talib) was not able to accept Islam as Allah did not appoint him with hidayat (guidance). If that was the way Allah had prescribed his life, then why should he be punished?

A. The subject of taqdeer is one that is very delicate and intricate. Delving too deep into this subject is discouraged and has caused many to go astray. However, in order to clarify your concern one should understand that Taqdeer does not refer to the command of Allah. Allah has not forced nor commanded any person to commit wrong. Rather it refers to the knowledge of Allah. Allah has blessed every person with the ability to choose between right and wrong. One does right or wrong of his/her own prerogative. Hence, if a person does evil or commits a sin, he does not do so because he was forced into it. Rather, he does so out of his own choice. Yes, Allah out of His infinite knowledge knew that this person would choose the wrong path.

Perhaps a simple example would assist in understanding this concept further. If a newspaper announces that the head of State is to travel to South Africa, and thereafter he does indeed travel, he does so out of his own choice and not because the newspaper had knowledge thereof or had announced his plans.

Nevertheless, my sincere advice is that you do not delve too deep into this subject and accept the concept as mentioned above. Remember, every person has a choice. No person is forced to do good or evil.

Rules of Iddat

By Mufti Shafiq Jakhura (Darul Ihsan Centre)

Q.Here are some questions regarding a woman in her iddat (the mourning waiting period for a widowed woman).

Can she

  1. wear colored clothes?
  2. use hair oil?
  3. wear ear rings to keep the piercing open?
  4. step outside her home out of necessity?
  5. receive guests?
  6. use the phone and Internet?

A. 1) What is meant by colored clothes is those clothes which are worn to beautify oneself. Such clothes should not be worn. However, if the clothes are not new and are not generally used for beautification then they could be worn even though they may be colored. (Hindiya 1/533)

2) If a lady has a headache and applies oil that does not have a fragrance with the intention of medication and not with the intention of beautification then this is acceptable.

3) If the ear rings are worn occasionally with the intention that the ears that have been pierced do not close up and they are not exposed then this is acceptable.

4) It is permissible for a lady in Iddat to go into her garden, veranda and to hang the clothes. (Fataawaa Mahmoodiya 13/402)

5) It is not objectionable for other women to visit the lady during her Iddat, provided the laws of Shariah regarding hijab and the like are not flouted. This practice helps the bereaved lady to overcome her grief.

6) It is permissible to speak on the phone, read the newspaper (permissible content) and use the internet for permissible purposes.

Astrology and Horoscopes

By Mufti Ebrahim Desai (Darul Iftaa, Madrassah In'aamiyyah)

Q.If a person shows his/her hand to a palmist, his/her 40 days' prayers are not accepted. Does this also apply to the case of someone only casually reading a horoscope?

Also, back in school, I thought only believing in palmistry was forbidden in Islam. And I didn't know that your 40 days' prayers are not accepted if you show your palm to someone. So, out of ignorance, I showed my palm to a girl who claimed to know palmistry. I did it just for fun (and not because I believed in it). When I got to know about the punishment, later on, I offered nafil-i-tauba and sought Allah's forgiveness for the same. Will I be forgiven (since it was something I did out of ignorance)?

Jazak-Allah Khairan [Sara]

A. Palmistry, fortune-telling etc are acts which are absolutely abhored and forbidden in Islam.

The degree to which these acts are forbidden could be grasped from the fact that the one who does the fortune telling has been classified as a kafir.
Similarly, the one who believes in what the fortune teller says has also been mentioned to be a kafir.

Thus we can see the severity of these acts and we can understand that showing the hand to the palmist is completely forbidden, regardless of whether one believed her or not.

Now, if one showed the hand or read the horoscope INTENDING to accept what was to be told, then the salah of that person for the next forty days would go unrewarded ie. the salah would not have to be repeated, but no reward would be accrued for it.

And if one did believe the fortune-teller or palmist, then the hadith clearly mentions this person to be out of the fold of Islam.

As for your showing your palm to that girl, it was wrong to do so, but as you did repent we hope that Allah Ta'ala would forgive you for it.

IT Jobs in Bank

By Mufti Ebrahim Desai

Q.) I want to clarify whether doing a job in the Information Technology department at a conventional bank is right or not. Being an IT professional, our duties and responsibilities are only fixing, installing, configuring, and maintaining IT tools like computers, software, ATM machines, and day to day operational engineering activities. As far as financial matters are concerned we have an expense budget to purchase expensive equipments but we do not know the source of these funds; whether they are riba based or profit based. In fact we don't know the source of our salaries either.

My senior in bank has told me that he has verbal permission from Darul Uloom Karachi that an IT department job in a bank is permissible. Please clarify if this is permissible or not according to above stated job responsibilities. [Sohail Hashmi]

A.) There are two issues related to your query; a) Assisting in sin, b) Salary.

If the major source of the bank's income is from haram, for example, interest, etc. then it is not permissible to work there in normal circumstances.

The second issue is assisting in sin. Obviously, the conventional banks are based on interest and other haram forms of dealings. The IT department plays an integral part of that system. Although you will not be directly involved in the haram transactions, you will be an intergral part of the bank and therefore your income will be makrooh (contaminated).

And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best

Prophet Lut (pbuh) & People of Sodom ( A Lesson to be learnt against practice of sodomy )

In the name of Allaah, the Most-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

Lut (Lot)

Description of the People of Sodom
Prophet Abraham left Egypt accompanied by his nephew Lot , who then went to the city of Sodom (Sadum), which was on the western shore of the Dead Sea.

This city was filled with evil. Its residents waylaid, robbed and killed travelers. Another common evil among them was that men had sex with men instead of with women (their wife). This unnatural act later became known as sodomy (after the city of Sodom). It was practiced openly and unashamedly.

Lut Message

It was at the height of these crimes and sins that Allaah revealed to Prophet Lot that he should summon the people to give up their indecent behavior, but they were so deeply sunk in their immoral habits that they were deaf to Lot's preaching. Swamped in their unnatural desires, they refused to listen, even when Lot warned them of Allaah's punishment. Instead, they threatened to drive him out of the city if he kept on preaching.

Almighty Allaah revealed: The people of Lot (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers when their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not fear Allaah and obey Him? Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. So fear Allaah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the Aalameen (mankind, jinn and all that exists). Go you in unto the males of the Aalameen (mankind), and leave those whom Allaah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!"
They said: "If you cease not, 0 Lot! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!"
He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do."
So We saved him and his family, all, - except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind.

Surah 26: 160-171

Lut Wife

The doings of Luts people saddened his heart. Their unwholesome reputation spread throughout the land, while he struggled against them. As the years passed, he persisted in his mission but to no avail. No one responded to his call and believed except for the members of his family, and even in his household, not all the members believed.

Luts wife, like Noah's wife, a disbeliever.

Allaah the Almighty declared: Allaah sets forth an example for those who disbelieve, the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were under two of Our righteous slaves, but they both betrayed their (husbands by rejecting their doctrine) so they (Noah and Lot) benefited them (their respective wives) not, against Allaah, and it was said: "Enter the Fire along with those who enter!" Surah 66: 10

Angels Come to Meet Lot

If home is the place of comfort and rest, then Lot found none, for he was tormented both inside and outside his home. His life was continuous torture and he suffered greatly, but he remained patient and steadfast with his people.

The years rolled by, and still not one believed in him. Instead, they belittled his message and mockingly challenged him: "Bring Allah's Torment upon us if you are one of the truthful." Surah 29: 29

Overwhelmed with despair, Lot prayed to Allaah to grant him victory and destroy the corrupt. Therefore, the angels left Abraham and headed for Sodom the town of Lot . They reached the walls of the town in the afternoon. The first person who caught sight of them was Luts daughter, who was sitting beside the river, filling her jug with water. When she lifted her face and saw them, she was stunned that there could be men of such magnificent beauty on earth.

One of the three men (angels) asked her: "Oh maiden, is there a place to rest?"
Remembering the character of her people, she replied: "Stay here and do not enter until I inform my father and return." Leaving her jug by the river, she swiftly ran home.
"Oh father!" she cried. You are wanted by young men at the town gate and I have never before seen the like of their faces!"

Lot felt distressed as he quickly ran to his guests. He asked them where they came from and where they were going.
They did not answer his questions. Instead, they asked if he could host them. He started talking with them and impressed upon them the subject of his peoples nature. Lot was filled with turmoil; he wanted to convince his guests, without offending them, not to spend the night there, yet at the same time he wanted to extend to them the expected hospitality normally accorded to guests. In vain he tried to make them understand the perilous situation. At last, therefore, he requested them to wait until the night fell, for then no one would see them.

                                        The Mob at Luts House

When darkness fell on the town, Lot escorted his guests to his home. No one was aware of their presence. However, as soon as Lots wife saw them, she slipped out of the house quietly so that no one noticed her. Quickly, she ran to her people with the news and it spread to all the inhabitants like wildfire. The people rushed towards Lot quickly and excitedly. Lot was surprised by their discovery of his guests, and he wondered who could have informed them. The matter became clear, however, when he could not find his wife anywhere, thus adding grief to his sorrow.

When Lot saw the mob approaching his house, he shut the door, but the people kept on banging on it. He pleaded with them to leave the visitors alone and fear Allah's punishment. He urged them to seek sexual fulfillment with their wives, for that is what Allaah had made lawful.
Lots people waited until he had finished his short sermon, and then they roared with laughter. Blinded by passion, they broke down the door. Lot became very angry, but he stood powerless before these violent people. He was unable to prevent the abuse of his guests, but he firmly stood his ground and continued to plead with the mob.

                                           The Punishment

At that terrible moment, he wished he had the power to push them away from his guests. Seeing him in a state of helplessness and grief, the guests said: "Do not be anxious or frightened, Lot, for we are angels, and these people will not harm you."
On hearing this, the mob was terrified and fled from Lots house, hurling threats at him as they left. The angels warned Prophet Lot to leave his house before sunrise, taking with him all his family except his wife.
Allaah had decreed that the city of Sodom should perish. An earthquake rocked the town. It was as if a mighty power had lifted the entire city and flung it down in one jolt. A storm of stones rained on the city. Everyone and everything was destroyed, including Lots wife.

                                               Condensed Version of Lots Story

Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lot, he said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. Then travel in apart of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered."

And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning.
And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young mens arrival). (Lot) said: "Verily! These are my guests, so shame me not. And fear Allaah and disgrace me not." They (people of the city) said: Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the Aalameen(people, foreigners, strangers, etc.) from us?" (Lot) said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)."
Verily, by your life (0 Muhammad), in their wild intoxication they were wandering blindly. So As-Saiha (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; and We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. Surely! In this are signs for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allaah). And verily! They (the cities) are right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria, i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers.
Surah 15: 51-77

Allaah the Exalted also declared: So We saved him and his family, all, - except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. Then afterward We destroyed the others. And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
Surah 26: 170-175

                                        Lots Life after Sodom

The book was closed on the people of Lot . Their towns and names have been erased from the face of the earth. Gone are they from memory. One book was closed of the books of corruption.
Lot proceeded towards Abraham . He visited him, and when he recounted the story of his people, he was surprised to learn that Abraham already knew. And so Lot continued to invite people to Allaah, as did Abraham , the patient one who turned to Allaah repentantly, and the two held firm to their mission.

Dr. Abdul Kalam's Speech in Hyderabad ( A must read for all indians)

**Please read this article by giving 10 minutes from your busy life. Really
good.... ** * *

* The President of India DR. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam 's Speech in Hyderabad . *

Why is the media here so negative?
Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our
achievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success
stories but we refuse acknowledge them---  Why?

*We are the first in milk production.
We are number one in Remote sensing satellites.
We are the second largest producer of wheat.
We are the second largest producer of rice.
Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transferred the tribal village into a
self-sustaining, self-driving unit. *

There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in
the bad news and failures and disasters.

I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the
day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The
Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a
Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid
and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The
gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the
newspaper, buried among other news.

In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime.

*Why are we so NEGATIVE? *

Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things?
We want foreign T. Vs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology.

Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that
self-respect comes with self-reliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this
lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what
her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India . For
her, you and I will have to build this developed India . You must proclaim.
India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation.

*Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance.
*
Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is
yours.
*YOU *say that our government is inefficient.
*YOU *say that our laws are too old.
*YOU *say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.
*YOU *say that the phones don't work, the railways are a joke,
The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.
*YOU *say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute
pits.

*YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it? *

Take a person on his way to Singapore . Give him a name - YOURS. Give him

aface - YOURS. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International
best. In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in
the stores.... YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are. You
pay $5 (approx. Rs. 60) to drive through *Orchard Road *(equivalent of Mahim
Causeway or *Pedder Road* ) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU come back to the
parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a
restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity... In
Singapore you don't say anything, DO YOU?

YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai .

YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah .

YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at
10 pounds ( Rs.650) a month to, 'see to it that my STD and ISD calls are
billed to someone else.'

YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then
tell the traffic cop,'Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I
am so and so's son. Take your two bucks and get lost.'

YOU wouldn't chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage

pail on the beaches in Australia and New
Zealand .

Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo ? Why don't YOU use
examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston ??? We are still
talking of the same YOU.

YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but
cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the
moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative
citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be the same here in India ?

Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal commissioner of Bombay , Mr.
Tinaikar , had a point to make. 'Rich people's dogs are walked on the
streets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place,' he said. 'And
then the same people turn around to criticize and blame the authorities for
inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect the
officers to do? Go down with a broom every time their dog feels the pressure
in his bowels? In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has
done the job. Same in Japan . Will the Indian citizen do that here?' He's
right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all
responsibility.

We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do
everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the
government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all
over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper
and throw it in the bin.

We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to
learn the proper use of bathrooms.

We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and
toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity.

This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to
the public. When it comes to burning social issues like those related
towomen, dowry, girl child! and others, we make loud drawing room
protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse?

'It's the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone
forego my sons' rights to a dowry.' So who's going to change the system?
What does a system consist of ? Very conveniently for us it consists of our
neighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and the
government. But definitely not me and YOU.
When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we
lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the
distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr.Clean to come along & work
miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country
and run away. Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to
bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure
we run to England . When England experiences unemployment, we take the next
flight out
to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and
brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape
the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is
mortgaged to money.

Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a greatdeal
of introspection and pricks one's conscience too.... I am echoing J. F.
Kennedy 's words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians.....

'ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA
AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA
WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY'

Lets do what India needs from us.

Thank you,

*Dr. Abdul Kalaam** *

Historical Celebrations on Historical Victory....

A Historic Win we gonna remember forever !!!!!!

India v Sri Lanka

Cricket World Cup Final 2011: India (277-4) beat Sri Lanka (274-6) by six wickets

India owed their second World Cup to their magnificent batsmen. Their two finest – Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag – did not score 20 between them, yet the remaining Indian batsmen knocked off the runs with six wickets and ten balls to spare in the highest successful run-chase that any of the ten cup finals has seen. This match was full of Ups and Downs. Total thrill.....

The weight of expectation on India was enormous – from the outset of this tournament they have been the favourites – but they followed the example of their captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in withstanding it. If Brazil win a football World Cup at home, they will have a small and silent fan-base compared to the Indian cricket team last evening and their 1.2 billion home supporters.

The first time that India won the World Cup, in 1983, their players were given plots of land by the government and practically deified. When India won the inaugural World Twenty20, their team bus was brought to a standstill by millions – literally – thronging Marine Drive, outside the Wankhede stadium where they won last night. But these will be minor celebrations by comparison with winning this World Cup on home soil.

It was a tough road for MS Dhoni and his men as there was tremendous pressure on them to perform and to excel in front of the home crowd and that too in a tournament which is called the “World Cup,” it was never easy. But it was the patience and quality of tackling pressure now that the youngsters in the team have been able to that’s give the team a smooth sailing even in the rough time.

They were good in all department through out the tournament, in fielding Yuvi, Raina and Kohli were great...in bowling my fav Zaheer was the Backbone of Indian Bowling, Leading wicket taker in tournament with afridi. Batting was done by sachin and yuvi in whole tournament very well done.

It was also a great night for Tendulkar, who did not make his 100th international hundred but who was carried around the outfield at the finish on the shoulders of his adoring teammates. ‘The proudest moment of my life,’ Tendulkar called it, after a career that has given no cricketer since Don Bradman more cause for pride.

Yes it is Dream come true for whole India and I m proud to see this historic moment what we would share with generations ahead.

This match was truly a Lesson for us to Believe in ourselves in all circumstances and never give up the hope and One day life will give you the chance to tell everyone to shut up by making urself proud.

Now Time for Bhangda, Firecrackers, Sweets & lots of Celebrations like never before.....Keep Rocking India. :)

With Lots of Love for our Team India

A Letter from one Pakistani to Captain of Pakistan Cricket team

A Letter from one Pakistani to Captain of Pakistan Cricket team on their defeat against Indian Cricket Team in World Cup Semifinal 2011

To - AFRIDI (With Love)

( Request for all Indians and Pakistanis to read)

There's a lot to be said about the cricket tournament, especially our match against India. And it has a lot more to do with Misbah-ul-Haq and Umar Gul's bad luck, and Sachin Tendulkar's good fortune.   Cricket speaks to our nation in a way our government ...never has.   And Shahid Afridi addressed the nation in a way our president never has – unselfish, genuine, modest. So when Afridi apologized to Pakistan, millions listened and were humbled by the gesture. Our eyes filled with tears and our hearts with love and strange kind of sorrow. Shahid Afridi, you need not apologize to the nation. We are proud of you and our entire cricket team! You didn't bring back the cup, but any excitement, any happiness, any hope that Pakistanis have felt in the past few months is because of your brilliance. We've been hearing a lot of "Pakistan needs something to celebrate," but what Pakistanis really needed was something to look forward to, and the green team gave us that with the anticipation of each game played.   The funny thing about cricket is that it can unite the nation through a victory or a loss. It would have been wonderful to go out on the streets and celebrate with dhols, etc, as we did when we won the 20/20 Cricket World Cup in 2009. But even after our loss yesterday, the people of Pakistan, in their state of disbelief, came out and shared their sorrow. Misery loves company. Cars on streets, people driving around slowly, quietly, patiently. No honking, no cursing, no where to go, no where to escape. It was surreal. This only goes to show what cricket means to us and the massive void it fills for our nation.   Cricketers, you made us patriotic. You made us passionate. You made us proud.   And these precious adjectives are some that Pakistan rarely gets the chance to associate itself with.   So again, Afridi, your apology is appreciated but not needed. You conducted yourself with patience, grace and dignity, encouraging your own with a smile, and congratulating the opponents with an even bigger smile. You didn't win the semi-finals, but you won our hearts. Thank you for showing the world we are not an aggressive nation.   To Pakistan, I propose this: if there's anyone who needs to apologize it's us.   So to Afridi and the team, I apologize for the pressure I put on you to win the World Cup. It comes from my own shortcomings. So lazy and so cowardly am I that I am incapable of creating for myself a reason to celebrate Pakistan. Since as far as I can remember, my patriotism has tenaciously clung to cricket. It is unfair. I know.   To those Pakistanis who thought this was a match between Hindus and Muslims, I'm glad India won. This was never a battle between nations, or a jehad against Hindus. It was a semi-final cricket match, and if a loss is what it took to be reminded of this then I'm glad we lost. Victory would have only made you gloat over something you had wrong all along anyway.   However, if there was one thing I was relieved to discover it was that we don't hate India. We may hate America, but we don't hate India. No burning of the Indian flag, no bitter remarks, no threatening reaction. Phew! Just healthy competition and a pure love for the game.   So we don't hate India. In fact, we hate Zardari. What pleased me even more were the numerous text messages and facebook statuses I came across that poked fun at Zardari. My personal favourite is, " We congratulate India on winning the semi-finals. As a good-will gesture, India can keep Pakistan's prime minister. And if it wins the finals, we will give our president too."   Ahhh, Zardari jokes. They never get old. He's our scapegoat now. It's his fault we lost. Somehow.   That being said, think. It's time we stop asking of our cricketers something we should have been asking of ourselves. Or our government. Lets find ourselves a reason to be patriotic and celebrate Pakistan, and let cricket be a sport, not an identity. If we all just took a little responsibility, maybe our beloved team can finally approach the pitch as cricketers, not as soldiers entering the battlefield. We owe it to them.   Welcome back, boys!
